Family and Carers

If you are a carer or on a mental health journey, we welcome you to join our soft-landing, peer-led mental health support programs and community.

Our Family and Carer Support Services

As part of our core range of services and our whole of family approach to supporting those who live with or support those who live with mental illness in all its forms, we provide 3 service offerings to cater for Families and Carers across the coast in addition to our full range of programs we have in place to support your loved ones.

Carer Counselling

We value carers, and understand what is involved in supporting loved ones, family members and people in the community. Caring for others, whether a family member or caring in the workplace, is important, and often unrecognised and can be a challenging role.

Central Coast ARAFMI carer counselling is a free service based at Lerida House, Narara.

Support for Carers

Central Coast ARAFMI works from the principle that the carer is the expert in their own lives. We aim to walk alongside you in your journey, providing support that is highly personalised to your specific needs.

We have a designated worker who is dedicated to supporting families, working holistically within the family unit. We support people who care for others by providing:

Carer Support Groups

With our support worker, carers can connect with others and learn new skills in a friendly nurturing environment.

  • Share and Care Group at Kincumber
  • Wellness Walk Group meets at Woy Woy Waterfront
  • Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and Kinship Carers Group meets at Kincumber and Narara.

Carer Outings

With our support worker, carers can connect with others through events such as day trips, cinema events, camps and family fun days.

Families, Grandparents & Kinship Carers

There are thousands of grandparents and family members raising their grandchildren across the Central Coast and Hunter Region. This is growing every day.

Sometimes children are not able to live with their parents for many reasons, including mental illness, drug and alcohol, addiction, abandonment, and health issues.

The grief for your own children and the challenges of raising a family for the second time around can become overwhelming. The good news is, you don’t have to do it alone.

Central Coast Arafmi is here to help. We work closely with many organisations and schools, and recognise the importance of supporting families with grandchildren in their care.

Get in touch and be a part of something special.
